Marrakech- Ivan Twardowski’s film “Reintegration Class” won the golden asterisk prize at the 14th annual Marrakech International Film Festival which took place in Marrakech December 5 through December 13.
The Russian film portrays a disabled girl who decides to return to return to her studies many years after dropping out of school, and succeeds despite cruel teaching staff who provide no encouragement.
The film has already won several prizes in Russia, including this year’s jury prize at the Sakhalin International Film Festival.
The Swiss film “War,” directed by Simon Jaquema, won the film festival’s jury prize, while the Indian film “operation of Love” Aditya Vikram Sancubta, received the best production award.
The 14th annual Film Festival paid tribute to Adel Imam, the Egyptian comedy superstar and popular Egyptian movie and stage actor, the British actor Jeremy Irons, and the US actor and director Viggo Mortensen. Fifteen films from Morocco, Japan, South Korea, India, Iran, the United States, Switzerland, Russia, France, Egypt, Azerbaijan, Serbia, Hungary, Slovakia, and New Zealand were entered into the competition.
