Rabat – The Government Council adopted, Thursday, the draft strategy on migration and asylum.
This draft was adopted following a presentation by the Minister in charge of Moroccans expatriates and migration, Communication inister and Spokesperson for the government Mustapha El Khalfi said in a press conference following the weekly cabinet meeting.
This strategy is based on the High Orientations of King Mohammed VI following the meeting held last year in this regard, the provisions of the 2011 Constitution, the relevant report of the National Human Rights Council and the international commitments of the Kingdom, El Khalfi added.
The national strategy of migration and asylum was developed through a participatory approach that run from September 2013 through December 2014 and was marked by the opening on international experiences with a diagnosis of the current situation, which allowed to achieve four major objectives: Managing migration in the respect of human rights, establishing an appropriate institutional framework, facilitating the integration of legal immigrants and upgrading the regulatory framework.
