Taroudant – The American Daily New York Times ranked Rabat, Morocco’s capital, 31st of 52 cities in the world to visit in 2015.
The American daily chose the capital of Morocco among the best destinations in 2015 thanks to its beauty; “Roman ruins, labyrinthine medieval districts, European-style boulevards, recently expanded airport and sleek modern tram system.”
The magazine also highlighted the latest achievements of Rabat, “including the recent Museum Mohammed VI,” that, according to the New York Times, is worth a visit.
“This seaside metropolis — the capital of Morocco and a UNESCO World Heritage site since 2012 — is finally in the limelight,” wrote the magazine.
The most vibrant Italian city of Milan headed the New York Times’ rankings, followed by Cuba and Philadelphia.
In a report issued at its Supervisory Board meeting in Rabat on December 22, the Moroccan agency for Tourism Development (SMIT) aims at making Rabat and Casablanca “global destinations” and to spend approximately MAD 18 billion to develop rural tourism notwithstanding the economic crisis.
