Rabat- After difficult exams, the Republic of Guinea has chosen 102 young men to be sent to Morocco for a two-year training as Imams.
During two years course, the Guinean men will be instructed in reciting the Quran and studying and analyzing about 150 hadith, or sayings of the Prophet Mohammed (PBUH).
This training is part of a long-term cooperative agreement between Morocco and Guinea. 6,570 Guineans have already benefited from training in Morocco in the fields of engineering, Sharia, and medicine.
Guineans are not the only ones who have benefited from Imam training programs in Morocco. Older people will participate in trainings as well.
A group of Imams between the ages of 50 and 60 is expected to arrive to Morocco by next February for a similar training. Guinean young women will also be instructed in the same field.
The Moroccan Ambassador to Guinea expressed his satisfaction for this initiative, and the Guinean Prime Minister also appreciated it.
