Rabat- Government Head Abdelilah Benkirane announced, here Tuesday, that elections have been postponed to September “under the request of political parties”.
“I was informed by Interior Minister Mohamed Hassad that most political parties, with the exception of two, requested the postponement of the elections (…). We have complied with the request of the political parties”, Benkirane said at the monthly session of oral questions in the House of Representatives.
Last year, the Government Head said that elections will start in May 2015 with the elections of the representatives of employees followed by communal and regional elections (June 2015), the elections of professional chambers (July 2015), prefectural and provincial elections (August 2015) and the House of Advisors’ elections (September 2015).
In this regard, Benkirane affirmed that preparations for these elections will take place in good conditions and all laws governing the elections will be adopted on time.
