Jordan has executed two prisoners, including a female Iraqi Jihadist in retaliation for the killing of one of its air force pilots by so-called Islamic State (IS) militants.
A government spokeperson said that the two Iraqi prisoners, suicide bomber Sajida al-Rishawi and al-Qaeda operative Ziad al-Karbouli were executed on Wednesday.
The executions came few hours after the Islamic State posted a video showing Jodranian pilot Moaz al-Kasasbeh being burned alive inside a cage.
Al-Kasasbeh was held captive by IS militants when his warplane crashed during a military mission over Syria in December.
Jordan had offered to exchange Rishawi for al-Kasasbeh, but the Islamic State is believed to have killled him om January 3rd.
Rishawiwas sentenced to death for her role in attacks in the Jordanian capital, Amman, which killed 60 people in 2005.
Karbuli was convicted in 2008 of killing a Jordanian.
The video showing the execution of the Jordanian pilot comes three days after the beheading of Japanese journalist Kenji Goto by IS militants.
