Rabat – The EU’s ambassador to Morocco Rupert Joy lauded, on Tuesday in Rabat, the national immigration and asylum strategy, describing it as “excellent.”
“I congratulate Morocco on this excellent immigration strategy which will constitute a good basis for examining the issue of immigration and providing tangible solutions,” said Joy during a meeting organized by the ministry of Moroccan expatriates and immigration issues.
For his part, the minister in charge of Moroccan expatriates and immigration issues Anis Birou hailed the support by the different international institutions for this new policy, mainly regarding the sharing of expertize related to law-making and the setting up of an integration program, noting that the success of this strategy depends on the involvement of the different partners.
Birou recalled the operation of regulating the situation of illegal foreigners in Morocco which enabled in 2014 to grant 18,000 residence permits to asylum seekers and their families.
