Rabat – Palestine has officially become a member of the International Criminal Court.
Palestine officially became the 123rd member of the International Criminal Court on Wednesday. The Palestinian authority can now call the ICC to investigate possible war crimes committed by Israel in the Gaza Strip.
ICC membership comes after Palestine gained UN observers status and was recognized as an independent state by many European countries.
Joining the International Criminal Court will help the Palestinian authority in seeking justice for possible crimes committed by Israel. The Palestinians are expected to file complaints against the Israelis for operation ‘Protective Edge’ in which many civilians were killed and caused massive destruction.
