Marrakech - Former US president and chairperson of the Clinton Global Initiative (CGI) Bill Clinton, expressed, on Wednesday, his gratitude to King Mohammed VI and the Moroccan government for making possible the holding of the Clinton Global Initiative Middle East & Africa in Marrakech on May 5-7.
Marrakech – Former US president and chairperson of the Clinton Global Initiative (CGI) Bill Clinton, expressed, on Wednesday, his gratitude to King Mohammed VI and the Moroccan government for making possible the holding of the Clinton Global Initiative Middle East & Africa in Marrakech on May 5-7.
Morocco not only plays the role of a bridge between continents, civilizations and cultures, but also between past and future, said Clinton in a keynote speech of this CGI edition, the first of its kind held by the Clinton Foundation, in the presence of international figures, leaders of multinationals, and civil society actors.
Clinton lauded Morocco’s commitment to human rights and its adherence to peacekeeping efforts worldwide, and commended the friendship ties between Morocco and the USA, and the distinguished relations between the Royal Family and the Clinton family.

Referring to the CGI actions, Clinton underlined the importance of creating synergies between decision-makers in the political field, the private sector and NGOs in the MENA region which witnessed over the past years a huge growth enabling to improve the living conditions of millions of people.
He added that this region, which boasts natural resources and human potentials, should use its assets to be in line with development requirements in the service of human beings, recalling the actions undertaken by the CGI in several African countries as Kenya and Liberia.
