Rabat- The Eden Andalou Aquapark Spa & Resort hotel said it had not denied access to it premises to a British gay couple.
The Marrakech hotel released a statement on Wednesday denying a news story published by the Daily Mail Tuesday in which it claimed that the hotel had denied access to a British couple because of their sexual orientation.
The Daily Mail reported that a British gay couple, Morgan Hughes and LIoyd Innes, was denied access to a hotel in Marrakech and that they were told they could only go to the hotel if they stayed in separate rooms.
In the statement carried by French-speaking news website H24info, the luxury spa said that Morgan Hughes had booked a double room on March 17th through HotelBeds Spain and not through British Airways as claimed by the Daily Mail.
“On April 9th, HotelBeds canceled the booking without giving any reason or motive,” the hotel said in the statement.
“All reservations are made via email and that the staff has never refused to talk to customers,” it added.
The hotel went on to say that it “never asks questions about their customers’ sexual orientations or religious affiliations.”
