Rabat- Morocco’s King Mohammed VI is due to start a new tour of West Africa on Wednesday.
He will visit four African countries, according to a statement of the ministry of the Royal Household, Protocol, and Chancellery.
The statement said that the king will visit Senegal, Cote d’Ivoire, Gabon, and Guinea Bissau, with the aim of strengthening economic ties with these countries.
“During these visits, His Majesty the King, may God assist Him, will hold talks with the presidents of these sister countries and will chair signing ceremonies of bilateral agreements and the launch of cooperation projects related to human development, exchange of experience and reinforcement of economic partnership with these countries”, the same source source added.
Moroccan Minister of the Economy and Finance Mohamed Boussaid and Minister of Foreign Affairs Salah Eddine Mezouar have already initiated Morocco’s policy shift to these countries. The king will finish the formalities of these arrangements during this royal visit.
This new tour is meant to advance the progress of the partnerships that were launched during the previous royal tours to West Africa over the past two years.
In February 2014, Mohammed VI, accompanied with a large delegation, kicked off a three-week West Africa tour, visiting four nations: Mali, Cote d’Ivoire, Guinea, and Gabon.
The visit resulted in the signing of a series of agreements on bilateral cooperation in the social and economic spheres.
