Rabat – The Quicksilver Pro Casablanca 2015 which is scheduled to run from September 8th-12th will be the first professional surfing event to be held in Morocco and the Northern African region.
According to Surfer today, Casablanca will host in few months the Quicksilver Pro Casablanca 2015, a men’s QS1,500 event to be held from September 8-12 at Anfaplace, Morocco.
The event will be organized by the Royal Moroccan Surfing Federation (RMSF) and World Surf League (WSL). “We are very excited to bring for the first time a WSL event to Morocco,” said Mohammed Kadmiri, President of the RMSF.
“This is a historic moment for the surf in our country. We will welcome all surfers with the traditional Moroccan warmth and hospitality and hope to host an amazing contest,” he added.
The 2015 Quiksilver Pro Casablanca at Anfaplace will also decide the European surfing champion.
Moroccan professional surfer Ramzi Boukhiam expressed his happiness that Morocco will host the Quicksilver Pro event which brings together the professional surfers from all around the world.
“I am extremely happy to finally have a QS event in my home country,” he said. “I sincerely hope a lot of locals will be able to compete against some of the region and world’s top surfers. “There’s a strong contingent here but unfortunately most don’t have the resources to compete internationally. The Moroccan coastline has really good surf and I’m sure this event will be a great success.
