Rabat – A Moroccan Jew based in Casablanca made an appeal to King Mohammed VI, asking him to protect her from her landlord who is threatening to evict her from the “apartment she has lived in for 52 years.”
After spending more than half a century in an apartment located at Rue Jackman in Anfa, Casablanca, Cohen Messody is being harassed by what she describes, a real “estate mafia” that strives to kick her out.
Cohen Messody says members from the alleged mafia claims they are the owners of the accommodation and showed her an allegedly fake court order, forcing her to leave the apartment.
Speaking to Al-Yaoum24, Messody said she receives terrorizing phone calls on a daily basis that are threatening to murder her if she doesn’t leave for Israel.
“They slaughtered my cat… They call me every day to threaten me saying that I should go to Israel,” Messodyadded, “where shall I go? This is my scared land.”
Cohen Messody meanwhile, admitted that amid these threats, she started considering relocating her father’s remains to a grave in Israel, and staying there herself.
“If these threats and harassments don’t stop, I will leave to Israel. I will take the remains of my father and grandparents with me too, because I celebrate their memory every year,” she explained.
She went on to condemn such acts, saying that they are only 1500 Jews left in Morocco. “Why do they want to expel us from our country?”
Cohen Messody wishes King Mohammed VI would interfere in this case and protect her from the brutality of this mafia group.
Earlier this year, Cohen Messody’s neighbors were expelled from the house where they lived for 46 years.
The Jewish family was reportedly harassed by the same real estate mafia. They stayed at Cohen Messody’s place for several days while their belongings were still in the apartment they were expelled from on December 25th, 2014.
