Rabat – Morocco’s Cinema Center CCM has reportedly offered a fund estimated MAD 3.5 million ($150, 000) to the filmmaker Nabil Ayouch, for the production of his new movie “Matar Al Araq” (Rain of Perspiration).
The funding committee at CCM has unveiled this week the list of films that will benefit this year from CCM’s film funds.
In a statement, the committee said it approved the funding application made by Nabile Ayouch for the production of ‘Rain of Prespiration”. Ayouch will be granted over MAD 3.5 million.
This is the third year in a row that Nabile Ayouch gets film funds from the Moroccan Cinema Center. In 2013, he was granted MAD 300,000 ($30,500) for the production the documentary film “My Land”, and over MAD 22.2 million ($2.2 million), in 2014 for the production and direction of “The Attack”.
Nabile Ayouch reportedly applied twice for CCM’s fund to produce and direct his controversial movie Much Loved, in 2014. However, the funding committee at CCM rejected the filmmaker’s application.
Other films that will benefit from film funds include “Machfia”, a long film directed by Mohamed Ezzine and Ismail Froukhi’s long film “Mika”. Machfia is to receive MAD 500,000 ($50,900), while Mika will be granted MAD 200,000 ($20,300).
