Rabat – A Police Officer gunned down a female gang member on Sunday around 5:30 am in Hay Al Hassani, Casablanca.
A statement by the Morocco’s General Directorate for National Security (GDNS) said the Police Officer tried to rescue a citizen who was being abused and having his car stolen under death threats by an armed gang of seven members (two females and five males).
“The officer was forced to use his gun to stop the gang as the seven suspects, who were under the influence of alcohol, refused to drop their weapons and attempted to attack the officer with swords,” the statement explained.
Casablanca Police said the officer fired three warning shots into the air, yet the suspects did not retreat. Thus he fired another shot that hit a female attacker, causing her serious injuries.
According to the same source, the injured attacker was taken to the hospital where she later died.
GDNS announced that an investigation has been opened by the Judicial Police, adding that they already interrogated the victim who was attacked by the gang.
Police allegedly could not capture the other members who managed to escape after their mate was gunned down.
