Rabat – Journalists across Morocco are mourning Safae Abouaycha, a 22-year-old journalist, who drowned on Saturday, in Sekhirat beach, near Rabat.
Safae Abouaycha was spending the weekend at Sekhirat beach near Rabat. She allegedly drowned while swimming. She died as lifeguards could not rescue her.
Local authorities in the province of Sekhirat, Temara handed Safae’s body to her family on Sunday morning. Her funeral is due to take place on Sunday after noon prayers.
Safae Abouaycha’s colleagues and former classmates were shocked by the terrible news of her death. They took to Facebook to pay tribute to her.
22-year old Safae was a journalist for the newly established Arab-Speaking news organization Akhir Saàa, in Casablanca.
In parallel, she was a master student political communication at Higher Institute of Media and Communication, ISIC, of Rabat. She graduated as journalist from the same institute in 2014.
