Rabat – A Moroccan man is planning to run thirty marathons in thirty days in thirty cities across Morocco.
39-year-old Tarik El Mlih, a key account manager at telecommunications company Meditel, will run 1266 km (each marathon is 45 kilometers) within a thirty-day period to fight and raise awareness of cancer, a disease to which he lost his father who died at age of 51.
First of its kind in Morocco and Africa, El Mlih will start his journey on September 5th from Lagouira at the southern tip of Morocco and ends in Casablanca on October 4th, 2015.
El Mlih’s efforts to complete the challenge are being supported by the Lalla Salma Foundation to fight Against Cancer, Meditel and leasing company Arval Morocco.
El Mlih has invited every person to join him in his journey. “Several people have already contacted me to run with me: some for 10 km and others 5 km,” he told H24 website.
The outdoor enthusiast said he has been training for months in preparation for the challenge. He ran 24 km a day during the fasting month of Ramadan.
El Mlih will be accompanied by a team comprised of his sister, a physiotherapist by profession, and his friend Amine Ait El Mouddene who will take the journey on bike.
