Rabat – Two men, who allegedly attempted to rob an armored cash-transit truck in Tangier last week, were arrested by the police on Tuesday.
According to media reports, two Moroccan men living in Belgium have been arrested in connection to the failed robbery attempt.
From the perpetrators, the police confiscated firearms, a Kalashnikov rifle and ammunition in an apartment in down town Tangier.
Last week, the armed robbers attacked an armored vehicle belonging to private security firm G4S at the Val Fleuri Avenue in Tangier.
The robbers fired around 20 bullets and lobbed a Molotov cocktail as they tried to raid the cash security van.
The would-be robbers fled the scene without taking anything, and the security guards accompanying the armored truck were not injured.
An investigation has been launched to solve the case. A search is also underway for other suspected accomplices.
The last week violence comes few months after another incident in Tangier in which an armored truck was targeted in a robbery.
