Rabat – A Moroccan woman is accused of stealing MAD 360, 000 from a Saudi man she met online.
According to daily newspaper Asabah on Monday, the woman met the Saudi man on a social media website and took the whopping amount of money from him. The woman, a Masters student, claimed the money was intended to finance a project in Morocco.
The student invited the Saudi man to invest in a poultry farming project in a farm located between Kenitra and Sale. To finance this project, she asked the Saudi investor to send her MAD360, 000.
However, the Saudi man, apparently sensing something fishy, decided to fly to Morocco to check the project. When he arrived in Morocco, the Saudi investor discovered the bitter truth.
The accused spent the money intended to finance the poultry farming project on herself. She booked holidays to luxury destinations, bought a car, and she even gave some to her family.
The woman was arrested on Friday in Sale following a complaint lodged by the victim. At first, the young student denied doing anything wrong. However, she later confessed to everything when faced with evidence that she received the money from the Saudi investor.
