Rabat – Morocco has reportedly signed an agreement with a French aircraft manufacturer to open a production unit in the kingdom.
According to Ahmed Benjelloun, a representative of the Moroccan Ministry of Equipment, Transport and Logistics, the agreement was signed on the sidelines of the Future North African Transportation Summit held in Egypt from 7-9 September.
The Summit, held under the patronage of the Egyptian Ministry of Transportation, hosted senior representatives from ministries of transportation as well as the heads of regional transportation authorities from North African countries.
The participants addressed challenges facing the industry including safety, operations and maintenance as well as the investment and finance of future projects.
“Governments in the region understand that there is a direct correlation between the development of transportation infrastructure and economic prosperity and as such we have witnessed a marked increase in investment in this sector,” stated Mohaned El Mahgoub, Conference Director.
