Rabat – Real Madrid’s Welsh superstar, Gareth Bale, has reportedly sought professional psychological services to help him overcome his “adaptation” issues at the Spanish Club.
According to UK’s Daily Mail, Bale hired Sports Psychologist, Jamie Edwards, during the last football season. It was reported the Welsh player did not perform to the best of his usual well-known abilities on the soccer field and that he was going through a difficult time.
Bale has had a few problems at Real Madrid for his “extroverted” personality and a barrier in communication due to his language. It was even reported that some of his teammates would publicly criticize his decisions and his game.
These issues of “adaptation” affected the motivation of the sports star, causing a significant drop in performance, for which the Daily Mail says specialist Jamie Edwards advised him to “lower his level of expectations” and focus on short-term goals instead.
Stress and anxiety were the presumed culprits of Bale’s difficulties for which Psychologist Edwards would have taught him to “confront his problem” in order to tackle negative thoughts. Edwards is known for his motivational and encouraging methods.
Bale’s honesty with himself to seek help has been fruitful since according to Spain’s ASTV Liga BBVA, the Welsh is playing as a midfielder instead of a winger, he has provided three assists to his teammates in tow matches and scored two goals against Betis.
Evidently happier than last season, Bale has declared: “I think this year I’m more involved in the game and it’s showing in the matches, I can assist and score goals.”
