Taroudant – Three people were killed on Thursday in two separate armed attacks carried out by unidentified men in the province of Hail, in northwest Saudi Arabia.
The gunmen, apparently in relation to ISIS jihadists, attacked two police checkpoints, killing two civilians and a police officer.
The state-run Saudi Press Agency quoted an unnamed police official in Hail province as saying “the shootings happened Thursday at two separate police posts.”
The Saudi Authorities said that an investigation was carried out to identify the gunmen, who opened fire at the two police control stations.
While ISIS claimed responsibility for the recent series of terrorist attacks that targeted Saudi Arabia, no one at the time of writing has claimed responsibility for the Hail attacks.
The kingdom was subject to a series of assaults after leading a military coalition against Hothi rebels in Yemen and taking part in a U.S.-led coalition targeting militants in Syria and Iraq.
On the same day of the attacks, a deadly stampede took place during Hajj rituals in Mina that claimed the life of more than 717 Muslim pilgrims and more than 863 injured.
These two tragic events come only days after a huge construction crane collapsed into Mecca’s Grand Mosque, taking the lives of more than 100 people and leaving over 200 others injured.
