New York – Chelsea owner Roman Abramovich is reportedly losing his patience with manager José Mourinho.
Following the ‘Blues’ poor standings in this season’s Premier League, the team’s internal problems for which the coach has been blamed, the Russian billionaire is getting fed up, according to the Daily Star.
However, sacking the Portuguese coach would cost Abramovich a world record pay-out of £37.5 Million.
If Mourinho were to receive that amount of money, he would become the highest paid-out manager in football history.
“Hurricane Abramovich” is known for sacking coaches that do not meet his high expectations. Even though he declared his support to ‘The Special One’ earlier this week, he could fire his head coach if things do not improve quickly.
The former Real Madrid coach signed a new 4-year contract with Chelsea this summer worth £10 million in salary per year.
Abramovich allegedly agreed to dish out such high per-year salary as a “reward” for the ‘Blues’ exceptional performance last year and winning the 2014 Premier League.
Yet, things are completely turning sour this year as the British team stands in 16th place at the Premier League, only a few points away from relegation zone.
Mourinho has been harshly criticized and blamed for Chelsea’s current mess. On Tuesday, Italian manager Fabio Capello lashed out at the Portuguese coach saying he “exhausts his players mentally” and their cycles do not last more than 2 years.
Capello also accused his decisions on the pitch: “…There have also been tactical errors from the coach, who this year is not preparing for matches very well.”
