New York – Spanish coach Pep Guardiola has allegedly agreed with Manchester City to become head coach of the team as of next season.
According to Mundo Deportivo, the Bayern Munich boss met with Man City’s director, Txiki Begiristain and discussed the possibility of coaching the ‘Sky Blues’, but nothing has been signed as of yet.
Txiki and Guardiola have maintained a friendly and trusting relationship, which has brought the ‘Citizens’ director to seek the Bayern manager in the past and bring him to Manchester.
However, previous transfer attempts have failed and the 44-year-old remained with Barcelona and later Bayern Munich, which he currently coaches.
According to the same source, this time could be different since Begiristain and Guardiola are said to have reached a ‘verbal agreement’ for him to come to the British club next season when his contract with Bayern expires.
The former Barcelona boss who is considered one of the top football coaches in the world could face a hard time being released from Allianz, since the German club is allegedly happy with his performance.
The decision lies in the hands of Guardiola, whether he accepts another contract at Munich or packs up, takes his friend’s offer and moves to Manchester in the next transfer season.
