Rabat – The Embassy of Morocco in Madrid took part in the first “Student Welcome Day Madrid 2015,” which was held on October 10, at the famous Cibeles Palace in the center of Spain’s capital.
The event aimed to greet foreign students who are based in Spain and to offer them a podium to share and exchange their history, culture, and traditions. It also aimed to consolidate the cultural and social ties between Morocco and Spain.
Moroccan representatives prepared a booth to present Moroccan handicrafts and history. The stand was distinguished by the throng of visitors who were mesmerized by the diversity of Moroccan culture and customs.
Several dignitaries and prominent sportsmen visited the booth, including the mayor of Madrid, Manuela Carmena, and the legendary Spanish footballer, Emilio Butragueno, as well as the president of the Foundation of Atletico Madrid, Adelardo Rodriguez.
The event also supplied a stage for Moroccan artists to represent Moroccan culture through their artworks and performances. The stage included the performance of the Moroccan rapper and finalist of the French version of the musical contest Yann’sine Jebli, who was accompanied by the Moroccan dance group ‘Madrocco.’
In addition, a Moroccan graffiti artist also impressed the audience with a piece of art, in which he symbolized surfing in Morocco.
Morocco’s ambassador to Spain, Fadel Benyaich, chaired the event along with international student representatives.
Around 75,000 foreigners participated in this event, including Moroccan students.
