Rabat – The city of Tangier was once again the scene of a new robbery.
According to the Moroccan daily Assabah, robbers equipped with knives attacked a money transfer agency on Monday in the city of Tangier.
The daily said that robbers entered the office in the afternoon. One of them pointed a knife to an employee, while his accomplice went directly behind the counter and took all the money found in the till.
According to the same source, the robbers managed to run away with a sum of MAD 20,000 (about $2,000).
After receiving the warning, the local police immediately went on site, but to no avail, as they had already left.
An investigation has been launched to catch the robbers.
Last August, in Tangier, armed robbers attacked a van transporting cash Tangier. Reports suggested that the robbers had fired around 20 bullets and lobbed a Molotov cocktail as they tried to raid the cash security van.
Following the attempted robbery of the cash-transit truck in Tangier, Morocco’s General Directorate of National Security (DGSN) hired a special committee to carry out checks on banks’ security systems to detect any faults.
