Rabat – Applications for the British Chevening Scholarships, which allow students from around the world to study for one year of their master’s degree at a British university, are open for the year 2016/2017.
The Chevening Shcolarship Program began in 1983, with over 44,000 alumni worldwide including 150 Moroccans.
The program accepts students from over 130 countries, and this year will award about 2000 scholarships in total. All funds come from the UK Foreign and Commonwealth Office (FCO).
Alumni normally rise to leadership positions within politics, business, media, civil society, religion, and academia.
The British Embassy in Rabat will choose the recipients after extensive applications and interviews.
The British Embassy in Rabat are looking for students interested in following areas:
1. Economic development (including sustainable development and environmental issues),
2. Good governance and transparency
3. Security and justice
4. Human rights
5. Media and communications
6. International relations
The Chevening program “provides a unique opportunity for leaders of the future to build a global network of continuing professional significance,” says the UK foreign and Commonwealth Office.
The program “enables talented individuals to establish social, cultural, academic or commercial partnerships with the UK. We hope that this year’s Chevening Scholarships will continue to attract the very brightest and best,” the same source added.
