Rabat – The first annual forum on participatory financing organized by the Moroccan and Malaysian governments was held on October 19 and 20 in Casablanca. The forum provided a platform for experts from the two countries to share their experiences regarding participatory financing.
“The forum is also an opportunity to highlight the developments achieved in this field in Morocco and provide a platform for experience exchange with Malaysian operators, considered to be international leaders in participatory financing,” Director of Aisse company, specializing in consulting and auditing, Taib Aisse said.
The forum highlighted some aspects of the legal framework and roadmap for this type of financing in Morocco.
“The integration of participatory financing in the Moroccan market will increase banking, create more job opportunities, and be an added value to the Moroccan economy,” said the Minister Delegate for the Ministry of Equipment, Transport and Logistics Mohamed Najib Boulif.
For Morocco, participatory financing represents a huge potential for growth and an investment catalyst.
An important Malaysian delegation, headed by Sultan Nazrin Muizzudin Shah, Royal President of the Malaysian Initiative on Islamic Finance, participated in the forum.
The Crown prince underlined the importance of the participatory financing in international markets, their contribution to an inclusive growth, and their role in implementing social projects.
In its first day, the forum hosted more than 400 participants including bankers, researchers, experts and key officials from Morocco and Malaysia.
“We are not trying to copy the Malaysian model, we seek to come up with a Moroccan model for participatory financing,” M. Aisse said.
This is the first time such a forum has been organized in Morocco. The organizers hope to make it an annual event, focussing not only on the development of participatory financing in Morocco but also worldwide.
