Rabat – Morocco has ranked among the best 20 countries ones should visit in one’s lifetime, according to a survey conducted by the Condé Nast Traveler (CNT).
The survey, which was published last September, establishes a list of the world’s best destinations foreign tourists should visit.
The magazine based its ranking on the ratings and feedback of more than 128,000 readers, the highest level of participation in its history.
Morocco ranked in 20th position, being the only country from the Arab world to be included on the list. Morocco and South Africa are the only African countries on the list.
“The home of Casablanca is a treasure trove of spice markets, surrealist landscapes, jaw-dropping mosques, and world-class surfing. The cuisine is like none other, with a mix of Arab, African, Persian, and French flavors,” the magazine says about Morocco.
The ranking included the world’s best tourist destinations, such as Italy, France, Spain, USA, Turkey, Greece, India and Thailand.
For the fifth year in a row, Italy tops the list. It is followed in the top 10 by France, USA, Spain, Greece, Australia, New Zealand, Thailand, Turkey, and India.
South Africa ranks in eleventh position. It is followed by Vietnam, Sri Lanka, Netherlands, Mexico, Portugal, Ireland, Japan, Canada and Morocco.
With this ranking, Morocco strengthens its position among the world’s most favorite destination for travelers. In recent years, the North African country has become the favorite destination of the world’s most acclaimed stars.
Celebrities such as former English player David Beckham, American singer Usher, Real Madrid star Cristiano Ronaldo, have all succumbed to the charm of Morocco, its sceneries, culture and history.
Last year, the World Economic Forum’s Travel and Tourism Competitiveness Report (WEF) ranked Morocco the world’s third friendliest country for foreign tourists.
