Rabat – The House of Representative adopted on Tuesday an organic law that will govern renewable energies.
The Minister of Energy, Mining, Water and the Environment, Abdelkader Amara presented the general framework defining the different aspects related to this law. These aspects focus on pursuing reforms already launched in renewable energy, protecting natural resources, providing training to human resources and strengthening research capacities in renewable energies.
Majority groups in the Parliament brought to the fore the need to increase renewable energy investments to generate new job opportunities for young people and enhance the energy contribution in domestic production set at 42% by 2020.
On the other hand, opposition groups stressed the need to give priority to renewable energy resources, encourage national enterprises to invest in projects relating to these energies and to elaborate an efficient program to develop this vital sector.
