Rabat – Following Cristiano Ronaldo’s celebrated trips to Morocco twice in one month, Moroccan journalist Mehdi Benkirane assures that the Portuguese star’s real reason for his visits, had nothing to do with Moroccan Kickboxing Champion Badr Hari.
There has been a social media craze over CR7’s visits to Marrakech and Agadir this October. Pictures of the Real Madrid star and the Moroccan kickboxer enjoying their time and friendship together in Morocco have gone viral.
The two superstars’ friendship has been made public through the athletes’ personal Twitter accounts, where they both have posted photos captioning their close relationship.
However, according to “Le Journaliste Marocain” blog, Mehdi Benkirane, a Moroccan journalist, informed the website that contrary to popular belief, Ronaldo was not a guest of Badr Hari in Morocco, but a guest of a man named Ouzifi Anis.
Ouzifi Anis, a 27-year-old agent for Moroccan athletes “accredited” by the FIFA who lives in Spain and is a close friend of the former Manchester United star and many international players, allegedly invited Ronaldo to Morocco twice, the same source said.
“Badr Hari was simply a guest of Anis, as was Cristiano Ronaldo. He had nothing to do with Cristiano’s trips to Morocco,” Benkirane revealed to the Moroccan blogspot in a phone conversation.
The journalist also identified Anis in many of Cristiano and Badr’s photos of their Moroccan getaways, implying that the Moroccan kickboxer had allegedly deceived his fans by captioning the pictures to suggest that he was the one who had hosted Ronaldo.
Interestingly, the news comes the same day that Morocco’s ‘Golden Boy’ was sentenced to two years in jail in the Netherlands on several counts of assault.
The same surfaced a surveillance video on their YouTube channel showing Badr Hari slapping the receptionist of Sofitel hotel in Casablanca.
Earlier this month, the Spanish press reacted negatively toward Ronaldo and Hari’s friendship calling it controversial, citing Moroccan problems with Dutch justice.
Could it be that the international press cannot come to terms and accept the friendship between these two celebrities? Is it coincidence or manipulation? Was Hari boasting online about his closeness with CR7 through their photos? Why haven’t the Portuguese denied it? Judge for yourself!
