Rabat – Pakistani Muslim Malala Yousafzai condemned Republican presidential candidate, Donald Trump, for his anti-Muslim rhetoric and for wanting to ban all Muslims from entering the U.S., according to BBC news.
Speaking at an event against terrorism on Wednesday in Pakistan, the 18-year-old said Trump’s comments accusing Muslims of terrorism were “full of hatred” and served to “radicalize more terrorists”.
On Tuesday, the Nobel Prize Winner delivered a speech at an event in Birmingham, Alabama where she also denounced the real estate billionaire’s xenophobic views.
“Well, that’s really tragic that you hear these comments which are full of hatred, full of this ideology of being discriminative towards others,” Malala told AFP news agency.
She also spoke to BBC Urdu’s Adil Shahzeb at the same event, asking world leaders and the media around the world to stop associating Muslims with terrorism.
“I have to say that whether it’s Western media or Eastern media, if they only blame 1.6 billion Muslims for terrorist attacks then terrorism can’t be defeated, that just leads to creating more anger in people and leads to producing more terrorists,” the Pakistani stressed.
According to the same source, the brave campaigner stressed that in order to help “defeat the terrorist mindset,” we need quality education.
“A gun can kill a terrorist, but it will not kill his thinking. The only thing that will change his mindset is education,” she said.
The young woman was shot in the head by Taliban jihadists in 2012 for campaigning in support of girls’ rights to receive education.
