Taroudant – A Muslim woman was kicked out of Donald Trump’s campaign event in Rock Hill, South Carolina, on Friday for wearing a hijab.
Rose Hamid, 56, attended Donald Trump’s campaign in order to give the Republican front-runner and his supporters an opportunity to meet a Muslim woman.
She was wearing hijab and a t-shirt with a message that reads “Salam, I come in peace.”
Once she made herself known, Trump’s supporters started to shout at her, and was escorted out by police.
As she was being escorted along with her companion Marty Rosenbluth, Trump supporters roared and booed the pair, shouting at them to “get out.”
One person shouted, “You have a bomb, you have a bomb,” Hamid said.
In a video published by CNN, Hamid said that before being ejected, she said that not all supporters turned on her and some said they were “sorry” she was forced to leave, holding her hand before she was led away.
“The ugliness really came out fast and that’s really scary. I figured that most Trump supporters probably never met a Muslim so I figured that I’d give them the opportunity to meet one,” Hamid said.
Trump commented on Hamid as she was being ejected. “There is hatred against us that is unbelievable. It’s their hatred, it’s not our hatred,” Trump said.
Hamid said that the people who were sitting around her with whom she had an opportunity to talk with “were very sweet,” but “the people I did not make contact with, the people who Trump influenced were really nasty.”
“People don’t have a chance to see anything other than the Muslims they see on TV,” Hamid said.
The incident went viral on Twitter, with comments hailing the Muslim woman for her “courage,” and criticizing Trump’s Islamophobic and racist statements.
