According to the results of the survey presented Tuesday in Rabat by Minister of Solidarity, Women, Family and Social Development, Bassima Hakkaoui, one out of four households (24.5 percent) has at least a person with disabilities.
The disability prevalence rate stood at 6.99 percent in rural areas, compared to 6.66 percent in urban areas, while it is 6.8 percent among women and 6.7 percent among men, the survey added.
Regarding the national prevalence rate by age group, it amounts to 33.7 percent among the elderly over 60 years (33.7 percent), compared to 4.8 percent among those aged between 15 and 59, and 1.8 percent among the population aged under 15.
According to the survey, 50.2 percent of persons with disabilities suffer from motor disabilities, 25.1 percent of mental disabilities and 23.8 percent of visual impairment.
