The conference was organized under the theme “Responsible Tourism to Meet the Climate Challenge.”
The Minister congratulated the General Confederation of Moroccan Enterprises (CGEM) for its strong commitment to COP21 organized in Paris and for the coordination of private sector’s participation in COP22, which will be organized in Marrakech in November.
“The commitment of the private sector for this global cause reflects a true dynamic and ownership by all stakeholders of a collaborative approach to sustainable development that adapts to environmental changes and transforms constraints into opportunities and growth engines,” the Minister said.
Haddad highlighted the leading role of his Ministry on the African continent, particularly through the signature of an African Charter for Sustainable Tourism on the sidelines of the COP21.
In January, Morocco adopted a draft charter on sustainable tourism during the first “Moroccan Day of Sustainable and Responsible Tourism” in Rabat.
Last year, Morocco was ranked fourth in Le Parisien’s list of top ten destinations for responsible tourism, after Madagascar in third, Brazil in second, and Costa Rica in first.
