Morocco and UN-Habitat sign headquarters Agreement

Rabat – Morocco and the UN-Habitat signed, on Wednesday in Rabat, a headquarters agreement to foster the presence of this institution in Morocco.

Signed by the Minister of Housing Mohammed Nabil Benabdellah, and Executive Director of UN-Habitat, on the sidelines of the African Ministerial Forum on housing and urban development, this agreement reflects the level of cooperation and collaboration between Morocco and the UN in the field of housing.

The UN-Habitat project in Morocco is seeking to improve housing and eradicate urban slums, in line with the governmental program of ‘slum-free cities’.

It was established at the request of Al Omran to implement the slum-free program, which aims to improve social and urban integration.

Organized by the Ministry of Housing in cooperation with UN-Habitat, this forum will contribute to the preparation for the Third United Nations Conference on Housing and Sustainable Urban Development Habitat III, to be held in Quito, Ecuador on October 17-21.
