Rabat – Moroccan authorities have arrested a Danish man on charges of pedophilia.
The beautiful city of Marrakech, which is usually listed among the top magical destinations in the world, is marred in many negative phenomena that tarnish its reputation. Pedophilia is one of such phenomena that blemish the face the ‘Red City’.
A Danish man Has been reportedly arrested on May Tuesday for pedophilia. Omar Arbib, a member of the Moroccan Human Rights Association (AMDH), told TelQuel that “a 40-year-old Danish man was arrested by police the afternoon of Tuesday, 10 in the act of pedophilia on a child under 11 years and another of 15 years.”
The suspect was arrested when he “was sexually abusing the 11-year-old child. The other child, 15 years old, seemed to wait his turn,” he explains.
The Danish citizen will stand on May 12 before the attorney general of the Marrakech Court of Appeal, which will determine the nature of charges he will face. “Once the charges are determined, the AMDH will constitute the civil party to defend the 11-year-old child,” Arbib says.
In April, an American pedophile was sentenced to two years of prison for charges of pedophilia and child sex abuse. Human rights activists considered the two-year imprisonment a ‘light’ sentence and requested the maximum penalty which could amount to 20-year imprisonment for such kinds of crimes.
