Rabat – Morocco, a country that enjoys security, peace and stability, is qualified to host the 22nd Conference of the Parties to the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change (COP22), scheduled for next November, said here Friday, the United Nations Under-Secretary-General for Safety and Security, Peter Thomas Drennan.
The UN official told the press following a meeting with Minister Delegate to the Minister of the Interior, Cherki Drais, that Morocco fulfils all necessary conditions to organize this high-level Conference.
Drennan also said that the United Nations and Morocco are bound by “very strong relationships”.
For his part, Cherki Drais noted that Morocco will make sure that this event takes place in the best conditions and will mobilize for this purpose all security and technical resources.
He also said that Morocco has the security and political means enabling it to host the COP22, one of the most important conferences.
Talks with Drennan also focused on cooperation between Morocco and the United Nations in the fields of security and the fight against terrorism, said the Moroccan official.
