Rabat – The Transnational Moroccan Cinema Project will offer fully funded scholarships to two emerging Moroccan filmmakers at London Film School for one full semester.
The Transnational Moroccan Cinema Project, funded by the Arts and Humanities Research Council, said it was “delighted” to offer the scholarships to two “exceptional” students.
The company covers all costs for the duration of the students’ stay, from January 11 through April 1 of next year. The awarded students will be allowed to attend and show their recent work at the Africa in Motion Film Festival with the school’s professors in October. At this event, they will receive feedback from many professionals.
Students will be expected to participate in collaborative projects with staff and students, which could include the production of a short film. They will also be required to attend workshops and master classes involving creative management, production, and film finance lead by industry professionals. Students will also be invited to participate in prestigious symposiums and classes at Exeter’s International Film Business School, a masters program.
The Transnational Moroccan Cinema Project says the aim in awarding these two students is to “promote Moroccan talent in the UK and allow meaningful, lasting collaboration to emerge between Moroccan and British filmmakers.”
