Abidjan – The African Development Bank (AfDB) approved, Wednesday in Abidjan, a loan of $134.65 million to support Morocco’s social sectors governance.
The support program to the governance of social protection in Morocco is a sector budget support to the government of the Kingdom, said a statement from the AfDB.
The program aims to enhance citizens’ social protection through the strengthening of the governance mechanism of social protection, the optimization of resource use, the extension of social protection coverage and the improvement of the quality of services, said the AfDB.
It will allow the setting up of the legislative foundations for an improved social protection, and the support of government initiatives through a sector policy dialogue in coordination with other development partners in the Kingdom.
The program is meant to contribute to reducing poverty and social inequalities, through an improved and more equitable access to social protection benefits, and a more efficient and sustainable social protection.
It is worth to mention that partnership and collaboration between the AfDB and Morocco in the social sectors date back to more than four decades.
