Berlin - Morocco is determined to make the COP22 a conference of concrete action, said foreign minister Salaheddine Mezouar. Speaking at the Petersberg Climate Dialogue Conference, held in Berlin (July 4-5), the minister said that Morocco's commitment and efforts for sustainable development and environment preservation make it a responsible, committed and determined country to turn the COP22 into an opportunity for the implementation of the Paris agreement.

Speaking at the Petersberg Climate Dialogue Conference, held in Berlin (July 4-5), the minister said that Morocco’s commitment and efforts for sustainable development and environment preservation make it a responsible, committed and determined country to turn the COP22 into an opportunity for the implementation of the Paris agreement.
Explaining Morocco’s vision for this global event, Mezouar said that the Kingdom wants to support other parties to ratify the Paris agreement, give the necessary momentum to encourage parties increase their climate national contributions and foster the mobilization of non-state actors and governments as part of the Agenda of Action for Climate and its institutionalization to ensure its durability via concrete actions and initiatives.
Morocco also intends to agree on a road map to mobilize 100 billion dollars by 2020, speed up the pre-2020 agenda through the acceleration of the ratification of Kyoto Protocol amendment, generalize alarm systems, support developing countries in elaborating their national adjustment plans, provide technical assistance for poor countries, and facilitate technology transfer and capacity-building, he said.
