Rabat – The French Airplane company Groupe Latécoère was added to the list of foreign companies operating in the Moroccan aerospace sector, as they opened their first factory in Morocco on Wednesday. They announced their plans in December of 2015 to build the factory in Had Soualem, about 30 km from Casablanca, according to Huffington Post Morocco.
“This is one of the projects that contributes to the creation of 160,000 jobs provided by the plan of industrial acceleration on the horizon of 2016,” said a source at the inauguration event in Had Soualem, according to Medias24.
The new plant, called Latsima, covers an area of 6,200 square meters. The construction cost more than 100 million MAD, and lasted five years. The factory will produce materials for Airbus A350, A350 and A320.
The factory currently employs 100 people, but directors plan to increase that number to 300 in 2017.
Latécoère’s top clients include Airbus, Boeing, Bombardier, Dassault and Embraer.
