Vientiane (Laos) – Foreign Ministers of the Association of Southeast Asian Nations (ASEAN) member states accepted, on Sunday in Vientiane (Laos), the adherence of Morocco to the Association’s Treaty of Amity and Cooperation (TAC).
The adherence of Morocco to the TAC was approved in the closing statement of the 49th meeting of ASEAN Foreign Ministers, held in Vientiane on the theme “Turning Vision into Reality for a Dynamic ASEAN Community”
This adherence follows an official request made by the Ambassador of the King in Thailand, Cambodia, Laos and Myanmar, Abdelilah El Housni, during the audience granted to him, on April 28th, 2014 in Naypyitaw, by the Foreign Minister of Myanmar, U Wanna Maung Lwin whose country was assuming ASEAN rotating presidency. Morocco is the first African and Arab country to submit its TAC adherence request.
