Philadelphia – The Democratic Party has officially nominated Hillary Clinton, on Tuesday night in Philadelphia, to run as the Party candidate for the US presidential election next November.
The former New York Senator passed the 2,383 votes needed to secure the nomination. In nominating Clinton, delegate after delegate at the convention made the point that the selection of a woman was a milestone in America’s 240-year-old history.
Her nomination puts ‘biggest crack’ in glass ceiling where the political gender parity is being dissipated in the US, although disparities remain garish. “What an incredible honour that you have given me, and I can’t believe we just put the biggest crack in that glass ceiling yet,” Clinton said.
Hillary Clinton will address the crowd directly on Thursday in a formal acceptance.
