Rabat – Mission Chief of the International Monetary Fund (IMF) in Morocco, Nicolas Blancher, called on Morocco to continue efforts to boost employment.
Blancher was speaking from Washington at a conference call, held Tuesday in Rabat, on the occasion of the recent approval by the IMF of a new two-year arrangement for Morocco under the Precautionary and Liquidity Line (PLL).
He highlighted, in this regard, the importance of education reforms undertaken by the Kingdom to tackle unemployment.
Blancher also stressed the need of aligning education and labor market needs, welcoming the National Employment Strategy, which includes a range of measures to build momentum in this area.
The IMF official called for expanding job offers to all sectors of the economy, including SMEs, while taking into account the integration of the informal sector.
