Rabat – An emotional new photo series shared on social media by the Revolutionary Forces of Syria Media Office shows Syrian children holding up signs with pictures of Pokemon.
The captions of the photos ask for people to come find them. One of them says, “I live in Kafr Nabl, the Aleppo countryside. Come catch me.” Another, “I am a Pokemon at Idlib in Syria, would you please come and save me?”
The Pokemon theme of the photo series uses the Pokemon craze fueled by the release of Pokemon Go to appeal to viewers. Pokemon Go is an augmented reality game, in which people use the smartphone app to find cartoon animals in various real-life locations.
Photos like these highlight the need for relief services for children in the war torn region. Save the Children, a charity raising money for children affected by the conflict, stated that more than a quarter of a million children are “living under siege.”
