Rio de Janeiro – Moroccan athlete Rababe Arafi secured on Sunday 1500m final spot at the Olympic Games in Rio de Janeiro.
Kenya’s Faith Chepng’etich won Heat One of the 1500m, where she ran an impressive 4:03.95.
She was followed by Ethiopia’s Seyaum Dawit, who clocked 4:04.23 in second place while United States’ Rowbury Shannon came third in 4:04.46.
Ethiopia’s Sado Besu (4:05.19) and Great Britain’s Laura Weightman (4:05.28) were the other qualifiers from the heat.
Poland’s Ennaoui Sofia (4:05.29) and Arafi Rababe (4:05.60) qualified as the next two fastest.
The 1500m final is scheduled for Tuesday.
