Rabat – Donald Trump, the presidential nominee for the GOP, proposed a new immigration policy in his speech on Monday in Ohio.
After his controversial call to place a “total ban” on Muslims entering the US, Donald Trump presented a new immigration policy proposal on Mondaythat will require Muslims to take a test before being admitted into the US.
According to an article published in, the Daily Mail, the U.S. would suspend issuing visas when requisite screenings of individuals cannot be performed.
Trump’s senior policy adviser Stephen Miller stated, “As he laid out in his Orlando remarks, Mr. Trump will describe the need to temporarily suspend visa issuances to geographic regions with a history of exporting terrorism and where adequate checks and background vetting cannot occur.”
Trump’s suggested immigration policy proposal also includes a test to elicit Muslim candidates’ ideological positions before being admitted into the U.S., according to the same source. The test will cover various issues related to religious freedom, gender equality, and gay rights.
This unprecedented measure will be accompanied by a series of other procedures and tools to ensure that applicants for American visas observe so-called “American values” such as tolerance and pluralism.
Such procedures and tools apparently will include questionnaires, scrutinizing the applicant’s use of social media, and interrogating the applicant’s family and friends.
Trump also took the opportunity in Monday’s speech to pronounce that “radical Islam” and the U.S. are “at war” with one another.
Despite the international community’s discontent and numerous world leaders’ denouncements of Trump’s bigoted statements targeting minority groups and women, Trump’s inflammatory rhetoric has continued to escalate unchecked by the GOP throughout his campaign.
