Rabat – Moroccan boxer Mohammed Rabii will return to Morocco on Saturday from Rio de Janeiro after participating in the Olympic Games.
In an interview with Qushq, Rabii’s father said that the boxer will arrive at 10:30 pm at the Mohammed V Airport in Casablanca.
His father added that several Moroccans are going to receive Rabii, and stage a warm reception in honor of Rabii’s performance at Rio 2016.
“We will give Rabii a warm reception at the airport after he honored all Moroccans and he stood on the Olympics podium in his first participation ever,” Rabii’s father said.
After Rabii managed to qualify for the semi-finals, he won a bronze medal on Monday in the men’s welterweight 69-kg boxing match.
Rabii lost in the semifinals to Uzbekistan’s Giyasov Shakhram (0-3).
On Thursday, Moroccan national footballer Medhi Benatia congratulated Rabii on winning Morocco’s only medal so far at the Rio 2016 Olympic Games.
