Rabat – The Wali of the province of Souss-Massa region, Zineb Aladaoui, announced on Monday that the construction of the convention center in Agadir was recently approved and MAD 14 billion was allocated to this project.
The project will also include the construction of an exhibition center by 2020.
A meeting was dedicated to displaying the outcome of the regional investment center’s (CRI) activities in the first half of 2016, where Aladaoui praised in a speech that the approval of this project will enable the capital of Souss the availability of both important buildings. Furthermore, Aladoui called for intensifying the efforts to attract more investors, so that Sous-Massa region can be positioned in its rightful place among the other regions of the kingdom.
Aladaoui also urged decision-makers to direct and adapt investment projects to the needs of the region, enhance institutional efficiency, and form a committee to follow up on the projects that were approved, to ultimately improve the communication between the various investors.
Additionally, the Director of CRI in Souss Massa, Khalil Nazih, said that the investment of CRI recorded an eight percent increase during the first half of 2016, compared to the same period in 2015.
Nazih pointed out that 50 percent of these investments concerns the tourism sector, highlighting the approval of many of the structured investment projects during the first half of the year. Projects such as: “Aqua park” which will mobilize an investment of 25 million euros, as well as an amusement park “Agadir Land” with an investment of nearly 192 million dirhams, which will create a direct employment for 750 people.
“This dynamic is the result of the will of many of actors and investor and also thanks to the strong involvement of Moroccans living abroad, who were the initiators of the opening and the launch of several building sites and local initiatives that added a value and created employment opportunities,” the CRI Director noted.
